Both images I've selected have a lot of meaning behind them for their own respective religious group. The first image is the gigantic symbol of the cross above the altar at Saint Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. The symbol of the cross represents everything for us Catholics. It symbolizes salvation, Jesus' sacrifice for us, the Holy Trinity, and much more. I'd say this image communicates hope salvation and just everything that the Catholic church stands for. Putting adequate words to explain how important the symbol of the cross is for a Catholic is just about the nearest thing to impossibility there is; just like it would be with the Muslims' Mecca. Although I didn't exactly take a picture of Mecca, I took my second picture inside the Mohamed bin Zayed Mosque, which is basically the next best thing to Mecca itself. Anyways, inside it, I took a picture of a sort of a set of wooden steps with a golden column right next to them. This golden column is the main point of interest here because it points exactly at Mecca's direction, which indicates all worshipers to what direction they should face whenever they go in to pray. Thus, just like the previous image of the cross does for Catholics, this golden column pointing to Mecca (a.k.a, their most sacred place) embodies almost all of what the Muslim religion is about. The column is a symbol of divine reality, through the avoidance of images (Bernard Clairvaix). In contrast to the Muslim religion, however, Catholics do like using media as a means of diffusion of their religion. Catholics now a days in fact use a lot of media to stimulate the growth of the religion. The most relevant methods used now by the Catholic church are social media, television and music. Some more specific examples are the invention of bible applications for mobile phones, religious pages on instagram, and musical covers or hymns.
